Ideas for how iSquads can be used in schools.

  • Involve MOUSE Squad students in technology related professional development workshops--such as smartboard, CMS, technology integration in content areas, Atomic Learning, student response system training, etc. so that students can support teachers in the classroom during lessons.
  • Show iSquad students how to use the "Help" feature in software applications so they can assist teachers and students who have software questions.
  • Show iSquad students how to use Atomic Learning so that when a teacher or student has a software question they can assist them in learning
  • Serve as liaison for Depot Manager
  • Put "read me's" on thumbdrives for students with trouble shooting assistance.
  • iSquaders help class set up when necessary i.e. getting to websites, downloading software
  • iSquad handles troubleshooting issues for teachers and students during class before going to Tech Coach.
  • iSquad sets up teacher station before class starts.
  • iSquad makes troubleshooting movies
  • iSquad makes movies to present at school Moviemaker Premiere.
    • Helps teachers and other students learn ways technology can enhance eaching and learning.

Routine technology trouble shooting and maintenance

  • Distribute and collect laptops
  • Connect to the internet
  • Update the desktops that are in the schools
  • Set up SmartBoards and projectors
  • Smartboard troubleshooting
  • Ensure laptop and projector carts are locked and equipment is accounted for.
  • Screens clean
  • Keeping the carts assembled, and laptops charged
  • Ticket system to deal with longer "in time" issues.
  • Routine maintenance - additional time for club groups
  • Students identify computer and issue--for tagging and escalation
  • Feed DoE's online ticket system
  • Keep 98% of laptops running. No more than 1 per class out. Need help if more than 1 box down at a time. Grab last 4 digits of asset id. Track recurrence. Know that we need to get extra help.
  • Printer configuration, renaming, paper jams
    • We don't give passwords, but we run a assembly line type of thing where we have all the printers configured.
  • Distribution and collection of laptops

    • On Friday laptops can not be used in 8th period as they have to lock up carts to put in secure area
    • iSquad takes inventory for classes using Excel spreadsheet on flash drive and maintains inventory and reports issues with equipment

  • USB thumb drives for MOUSE Squad members for on the spot emergencies and backups
